Reactivating the Microsoft Authenticator on a Different Device

These steps are used only if you still have your previous phone as they require both devices to complete. When you receive a different (new) phone, follow these steps to reactivate your Authentication Account with MySLCC on that device.  If you do not have your previous device or you have reset the phone to factor settings or you have deleted and re-installed the application, please contact the Help Desk at 801-957-5555. 

Note:  If you lost your device or it was stolen, you will need to contact the Helpdesk 801-957-5555 for assistance.

 

1. On your computer, sign in to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/ with your school account & your password like you normally do.

2. Approve a Microsoft Authentication request on your old device.

3. Select Security info on the left side of the page.

4. Delete the Microsoft Authenticator for your old device.

5. Click on Add sign-in method.

 

 

6. Drop-down, Choose “Authenticator app” and click Add.

7. Download a free Microsoft Authenticator app and install on your new mobile device. Keep this window open.

 

 

8. On your phone

a. Open the app store on your new device (Apple or Android).

b. Search for the Microsoft Authenticator app published by Microsoft Corporation.

c. Download and install the Microsoft Authenticator new mobile app on your smartphone.

 

 

9. On your computer, Select Next to continue setting up the app.

10. On your new phone

a. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app.

b. You will now add an account. Select Work or School account.

c. Now select Scan a QR code. 

11. On your computer, Select Next again, and now you should be presented with a QR code.

 

 

12. On your new phone, Scan the QR code using your new phone.  Your Salt Lake Community College account will be added to the app.

13. On your computer, click Next.  A test notification will be sent to your new phone.

14. Approve the notification on your phone.

15. You have officially completed the enrollment.  Select Done on your computer screen.
